Riverdale deals in movie references. Whether it be episode titles, dialogue, or character names, everything is a call-back. So what makes their spin on The Breakfast Club stand out?

Welcome back to me gradually losing my mind. We've gone past fun idea and are solidly in the slog part of this project, and I keep wondering why God why. Heads up: this post is almost twice as long as the last one. Enjoy!

I'll be completely honest; even I, in all of my Riverdale apologist
enthusiast glory, have moments of weakness. And oh boy does season one
test me! The movie aspect of Referencedale does pay off, though, if only
to give me something to chew on while slogging my way through another
40 minutes of will-they-won't-they.
One paragraph in and I'm already asking myself why I didn't make individual posts for each episode, but honestly? Fuck that. Who has the time? Instead, sit back, relax, and get ready to read my near-incomprehensible steam of consciousness (mostly ripped from my Letterboxd):

the beginning
So you want to make a website.
The internet is an endless expanse stretching out before me, and I decided to carve out a part of it for myself. Whatever. Maybe it's the hour (10pm on a Monday), or the frankly mind-numbing movie I'm watching (Touch of Evil, 1958), but I need something new. And here we are!
To be honest, I'm not sure what kind of blog this is. I'd like to think I maintain an air of mystery--I live every moment like the FBI's on my tail--but it would be nice to consolidate my digital footprint to one easily accessible area. There will probably be movie reviews. I just started Referencedale (there's another idea for a post!), and that'll take up a decent amount of my year. Who knows, maybe I'll go wild and pick up poetry again. No matter what, I hope you enjoy it. That's a lie. I don't really care, but stick around anyway. Let's see what happens.
