It's been a while! Well, maybe it doesn't look like it, if I finally get off my ass and backdate a couple Referencedale in Review posts, but for me I haven't touched this thing since maybe March. Where were we?
For the past year or so, I've been involved with the local film fest scene. It's amazing, wonderful, breathtaking, etc., etc., but more than that, it's made me realize how many movies there are that don't get shared. Off Ramp (2023), which was shown at this year's Boston Underground Film Fest, was one of my favorite things I've seen in a while, but I have no way to recommend it to people. If you're lucky, the films shown get a limited theatrical release. That's rare.
In my efforts to learn more about the winners of past years' festivals, I went on a tirade today trying to find Dear Pillow (2004). It was only available on niche online stores (if you have a link lmk). As much as I praise physical media, there are times where I don't want to wait for a DVD to be delivered, or don't want to pay for something I'm not guaranteed to like. It's convenient to stream.
After that snag in my afternoon, I tried another BUFF winner: Graveyard Alive: A Zombie Nurse in Love (2003). Now I'm no slouch at scrolling through page after page of useless links to find what I want, and after much longer than I'd like to admit, I found it on a blog specifically for movies with imprisoned women. The world would be lost without weird fetishes (who am I to judge?).
All of this is to say that we need more blogs dedicated to watching exploitation movies. With that in mind, head over to the new page on my website! There are plenty of links to places to watch movies, as well as movie reviews. The list will continue to expand as I find more websites. Also please note that since a lot of these are exploitation, there may be some movies that aren't your thing. If you click on the incest tag, there will be incest. Don't be surprised.
I won't promise that I'll be posting again soon. Try reaching me on Tumblr if you're desperate; otherwise, I'll catch you on the flipside.
